Did i tell you?  Ribbons tied up tight like a present.  Dead ends finished.   In some cases, at least.  Some things are forever unresolved.

1992 ON THE MOON

In all honesty, I really should be sleeping right now.  I have been getting 3-5 hours (max) of sleep a night this past week.  I have been epically busy, in the best way possible.  What with photographing and editing photos for Civic Theatre of Allentown 's upcoming production of "Rent," to assisting a fellow photographer (George ) with a shoot today (I was reflector holder AND water splasher.  Highly challenging, actually), to shooting and editing a photo jam sesh I had with Amber  today, I have been all over the place and back.  So much fun.  Tomorrow I am going hiking at Glen Onoko Falls with a few friends, and Friday I am going on a junk search so that I can begin helping Will build the junk sculpture for the set of "Rent."  I'm also gonna tweak and mail out some resumes/cover letters within the next two days.  This has been the most productive week I've had in a long time, I'd say!

Here is the result of the "Photo Jam Sesh" today.  The aim was for Amber and me to exercise our styling skills, and have some ridiculous fun simultaneously.  The clothes are from my closet, the styling was done by Amber and me, the theme was (loosely) grunge/the 90s.  The photos of me were taken by Amber, the photos of Amber were taken by me, and they were all edited in Photoshop by me.

1992 ON THE MOON

When my Mother got home, she was really confused as to why the "DETOUR" sign was in our tree...

So, this one time, Courtney Love was birthed from my evergreen tree, and she came to hang out with me!

So, this is what it looks like when you mix together the Log Lady from "Twin Peaks" with Peg Bundy from "Married with Children," and you add a dash of Courtney Love from her kinderwhore phase.

And then the unthinkable happened...I grew a plastic doll head on my left arm, and Amber grew fake, paper eyes over her real eyes.  And, to think, it all happened by the very same tree that birthed Courtney Love.

hahahaha I am a wonderfully awkward head at the bottom of this picture (accompanied by the doll head, of course).

being a dilettante is FUN

So, last week my dad was asking me to fill out my tax papers. I asked him if I could write "Dilettante" under occupation. He was not so amused by that suggestion. Seriously, I think it would have been funny. And witty. and.....kind of true.

I've actually been really busy lately...hence the lack of updates. I got to photograph a "Rent" rehearsal at Civic Theatre, I am helping out with a junk sculpture for the set of the aforementioned show, I've been having photo jam sessions with Amber and Alex....all wonderful endeavors.  I feel like I may be in the the golden age of discovery in my life.  I'm kind of crash-coursing it through life, in a really great way.  I have a lot more time to grow up -- as long as I'm constantly feeding my mind and facilitating the growth of my own creativity, I really can't complain (even though I still will).

I had a photoshoot in an abandoned train car with Amber, Lisa-Noel and John the other day (for their pretend prairie-themed folk/bluegrass band).  Here are the pictures:

BEAR IN HEAVEN

Bear In Heaven - Werewolf from Hometapes on Vimeo.

I am in love with this video. It has a werewolf, random animation, a bearded man and witchy things. Everything a music video should have.

vixen jawbone

Prioritizing has never been my strong suit.  For example:

Of all the many things I was supposed to accomplish today, I accomplished none.  However, I did make a really awesome necklace out of a fox jawbone and horn/talon charm.  Found the jawbone in the woods, did a little jewelry surgery to use the charm (it came from a charm necklace).  Now my fingers are coated with a thin layer of dried epoxy resin.

weird dreamin'

me, walking dachshunds in the temperate weather in a red sweater, vintage black dress, and vintage neck scarf.
I wore a necklace combination of old keys, a severed seashell, a gold arrow,  a rose pendant, and a fox vertebrae.

I had the most bizarre dream Monday night. Granted, most of my dreams are weirdly grey-clouded and inherently eerie, but this one has been haunting me all of my waking moments lately.

Monday night, before I went to bed, I was conscious of the fact that I would be visiting the abandoned zinc mine (quarry) the next day. This fact informs the events of the dream that I will now divulge.

I woke up (woke down) into a dream that illustrated a weird dreamscape of this:

There were deep tide-pools. But, not tide-pools, as much as they were deep, circular gashes in the earth (filled with turquoise water). They were a whole lot like the emerald pools on the island of Maui in Hawaii (I have visited this place). In between each tide-pool was a flat valley, in which channels would flow, linking the tide-pools. In between the channels, pools and flat valleys, there were giant, metal ladders. On these ladders, one could observe the terrain and depths of the pools without actually exploring them.

For some reason, my entire mission during this dream was to reach the deepest pool. Mind you, I had explored this terrain in dreams before. In this dream, though, i was hellbent toward reaching the deepest of depths (as far as tide-like pools were concerned). Eventually, I tired of swimming from pool to channel to pool. I decided, finally, that I would climb one of the metal ladders situated in the valley to survey the terrain. I did just that...and...visually mapped the terrain. I was on the lookout for the deepest pool. The deepest pool appeared to be the southernmost, the last before a giant highway. Suddenly, I noticed (while upon the ladder), that there was a body in the depths of the deepest pool. The body floated, lifeless, at the bottom. The bottom of the pool was crystal clear, unlike any of the other pools in the whole dreamscape. Then, as soon as I made eye contact with the the body at the bottom of the pool, it began to float to the surface. I swam through the channels and valleys, unknowing of my ultimate destination, but hoping it be the deepest pool with the deadest body at the bottom.

Before I know it, I am at the the deepest pool. It is 400 feet deep, but I can clearly see the bottom....and someone is swimming toward me, with the deadest body, limp in her arms.

Then I wake up, having slept through two alarms.

REBORNS

My friend just gave me an awesome vintage baby doll head she found in an antique market.  The weird thing is, I came home and there was a documentary on BBC about this lady who makes baby dolls that are extremely realistic for women that want to feel like they have a newborn.  It was super creepy.  I watched the entire thing.  Then I searched on youtube for clips...

the countdown

Why is it that when Spring chooses to come out of hibernation, it carries the scent of nostalgia?  Everything (and everyone) seems to come out of hiding, too.

2 days until the Joanna Newsom concert.  I can barely contain myself, actually.  The month of March will be marked solely by this event.

I've been working on more drawings...I wish I had a larger scanner -- my scanner is too small for the paper I use, so I'm forced to photograph my drawings.  Unfortunately, this method doesn't do justice to the small details...because I make a lot of little lines and designs with really little pens.

This drawing is based on a bad dream, involving a brown recluse spider embedded in my hand, visible phalanges and muscle fibers curling up and all over from the bone.

The omen on the side of the road: brutal blackbird roadkill.

shining twins

In the (kinda rural) suburbs, this is what we do for fun -- we go on themed photo adventures.  Laura and I realized how we have the same color hair, and similar faces so we decided to be the Redheaded (Fraternal) Shining Twins in the Woods.  Add in some gingham dresses and deer skulls, and there you have it.  Here it is.
